Becca and Ben are developing a love/hate relationship.   Actually it’s more that Becca has a will and is no longer doing everything that Ben says. 

Tonight Ben came inside to tattle on Becca.   We where trying to get the story of what was going on and then Becca came in.   Now Becca can’t really talk all that well, but she was letting us know very clearly that “Baba” had done something to upset her.   Walter finally gets to the bottom of what was going on and gets on both of them for tattling on each other.   Ben being very tired and not having a nap, fell apart.   As they walked outside together, having been told to play nicely with each other, Becca reached out to take Ben’s hand and Ben says “Let’s play Sissy.”  

and he always knows how to put things in perspective. I’m talking about my son Ben.  

  Yesterday morning we where in the rush to get Becca to daycare, Ben to Bible camp and me to work, all before 9:30.   Becca was to be the first to be dropped off and as we were knocking on the door of the babysitters house, we hear crying inside, no biggy, but when Nessa answered the door she said that Parker had just puked all over and on her.   We could see that!   So anyway, even though Parker was headed home I was not going to leave Becca there to be exposed to the flu.   So off to take Ben to Bible camp, but still wondering what I was going to do with Becca because I had to go to work yesterday because I had a summons for jury duty the next day and vacation next week.   So as I was talking to myself as I was driving and trying to think of what I was going to do (Can you see the “I” pattern here?)    Ben says, “Momma, we need to pray for Parker.”   He then bows his head and starts praying for Parker.  

One thing that I love about Ben is his how he’s willing to pray anytime and anywhere.   He understands that the Lord is the first place we should go.  

Tonight at dinner Walter and I had BBQ hamburgers, the kids don’t usually like them so we didn’t fix them any – they had really healthy hot dogs     Becca was very upset because we didn’t give her a bun, she was whining and kept asking for one so I finally just gave her one.   That didn’t make her completely happy so then we had her whining again.   Walter then put mayo and ketchup on the bun, slapped it together and she ate the whole thing – with just mayo and ketchup.   She didn’t whine anymore and we had really nice dinner.   Who knew that’s what she wanted for dinner?!?

Walter has a conference in San Diego next week and since he’s been going to this conference he’s wanted me to go with him.   This year we are making it happen!   The kids are being packed up and are spending the week with Grandma and Papa.   I’m really excited to get away.   Walter and I never really took a “honeymoon”, so both of us are really looking at this as being a special time way together.  

This will be the first time we have left Becca for more than one night.  I know she will do great.   Ben is just excited to spend some time with Grandma, Papa and Cousin Cole.   He’s always up for an adventure.

But until we leave we have a very busy week.   Ben’s at bible camp this week.  He goes every day from 9:00 until 1:00.  He’s having a blast hanging out in the forest.   I need to go to work sometime this week and I also have jury duty on Thursday and Friday (if I get chosen).  I’m really praying that I don’t have to go to jury duty.  Clothes need washed, house needs to be cleaned and the lawn needs to be mowed.  

What I’m looking forward to most about our trip is that not only will Walter and I get to spend some quality time together, but while Walter is in his conference I will get some time to myself.   As an introvert I’m so excited about this!  I have books I want to read, a bible study I want to finish and a nap or two to take!   I hope it’s as wonderful as I think it’s going to be.
