Attacking

I find that when we go to do anything “big” with the youth group or a group at church the enemy (Satan) likes to attack, to get me frustrated, anxious, crabby, upset – basically getting me in a bad mood.

Today was totally one of those moods, I couldn’t sleep last night, I woke up cranky and basically it didn’t change until about 3 hours ago.   I felt like the kids were testing me all day, I was yelling at them all day – it just stank.

While we were at the church this afternoon the youth pastor’s wife was very upset, mad at Walter (that’s how I took it).   The kids were crying in the backseat because they where hungry and I think it was the breaking point.

As I walked through Safeway tonight, going to get a salad for dinner it hit me – The enemy is attacking.  He wants me to be upset at the YP’s wife, he wants me to be angry and cranky with my kids, he wants me to be upset with Walter.

When I got back to where Walter was I basically told him my “revelation” and he said he was feeling it too.    We checked out and got in the car and prayed.   God’s peace came to all of us.   The kids have been great this evening, I’ve been much calmer and hopefully Walter at his meeting at church is gaining a lot of knowledge.   Becca even spilt dinner on the floor.  If this would have happened this afternoon – oh she would have been yelled at, but I calmly cleaned it up, talked to her and all was well.

It just goes to show the peace that comes from placing our trust in the Lord.   The enemy’s attacks are not as powerful as he would like.

Wonderful Walter

I just saw this little test and thought I would take it.   See how my man stacks up with the 1930’s husbands.   Honestly, he’s that good!  I took the test and sadly only scored 55 (average) for a 1930’s wife.

155

As a 1930s husband, I am
Very Superior

Take the test!

Projects

**FINAL UPDATE:   Here it is 11:20 before we need to go and everything is done except for the bag.   Also my house isn’t as clean as I would like it to be, but hey – there is always Monday when we get back – oh wait, that day will be spent with LAUNDRY!!!   I’ll do both, I found out Ben’s a good vacuumer so I think he has a new chore – YES!

**Update #2:  We did pretty good this weekend.  I don’t think the bag is going to get made.   It’s half done but I need to work tomorrow and then pack us up tomorrow night.

**Update #1:  I crossed a few things off my list, I’m off to work on the bag before dinner tonight.  I have some funky blue and red paisley print that I think will be really cute.

This weekend I have lots of little projects I want to get done.  So where better to put a list of all those things then here on the Internet.

1.  Making this bag, not for the kids but fore me when we go to SWC.

2.  Go get blood drawn for lab work at the hospital – Saturday Morning.

3.  Laundry

4.  Defrost 20 lbs of ground beef and cook for spaghetti and nachos for dinner at SWC.

5.  Marinate and BBQ (Walter will do this) 30 chicken breast for a dinner at SWC.

6.  Laundry

7.  Find kids blow up beds and make sure they are ok to go. actually Walter did this, as you know he’s wonderful

8.  Write checks and mail bills.

9.  Laundry

10.  Hem pants for Kristen.

11.  Get id bracelets for kids Get when I’m at hosptial getting blood drawn.

12.  Laundry

13.  Visit posible pre-school for Becca.

14.  Wash sleeping bags. More laundry – yikes

11.  Start packing clothes. On a side note, my daugher has so many stinkin’ sun dresses!  She could wear one a day for the rest of the summer and not repeat probably.

12.  Pack toiletries. Started this.

As you can tell I’m slightly uptight about laundry.   I actually have to have it all done before I start packing.   I want a full selection of clothes to choose from.

I think my list is do-able.   Hopefully I can cross them off as I get them done.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Rebecca!

My Dear Becca,

How in the world are you three already?    It seems just yesterday you looked like this:

null

To this big girl?

I’m so glad that the two’s are behind us.   It was a hard year for mommy and you.   Many times there would be fits thrown and battle lines drawn, but by the Grace of God we made it through.    Grandma Barb kept telling me “This too shall pass” and with that great wisdom it did.
It hit me a few months ago why God gave us you.   There are many areas in my life that still need refined and I’m learning that refining through you, Dear Becca.    Not too long ago, Ben was helping you unload the dishwasher, you didn’t like him helping you – not one bit.   You got so frustrated with him that as he went to put a knife away you slammed the drawer on him.   I think I might have done that a time or two with your dad, unfortunately.   I understand your out of control need to be in control that manifests itself in frustration.   It’s something I’m learning to deal with and I hope I can teach you to let things go at a much earlier age than I am.
One of my favorite things about you is your sense of humor.   You love a good joke!   First it was knock-knock jokes and now your favorite thing is to play “knock-it, lock-it”  or as you refer to it “Break the pickle”  Ben, daddy and I know exactly what you are talking about and we love to play it with you.   Speaking of pickle/tickle.  You love, love, love to be tickled.   I have never met anyone who loves it more than you.   Physical touch is definitely one of your love languages because if we aren’t tickling you we are cuddling you.
You love to talk on the phone.  Every time my cell phone rings you think it’s Grandma and want to talk to her.   Many times you ask just to call Grandma and talk to her.   What a special bond you are growing.
You love dresses and sandals and pretties.   The more girly something is the better it is in your mind.  I can’t wait for you to open your presents tomorrow because you are getting a few dresses and I know you are just going to love them.
You are all about being a princess.   You love your Gigi Book and watching princess movies.  Just this last week you watched the classic, Snow White.   You where so cute thinking the movie was done when Snow White ate the poison apple.   You came out and told daddy “It over, she’s dead”, in such a mater of fact voice.   But you were so excited when you realized that she needed true Love’s first kiss to come back to life.    I pray now for your Prince Charming, that he is being raised well, learning how to respect others and how to love God.
I wonder what this next year of our life together will hold.   You want to go to school, just like Brother.   Can’t we just wait a little more until you are ready for that?
My Becca – I love you so much.  I find my heart swelling every time we go somewhere and learn something new.   You are so smart, fearless and strong-willed.   Sometimes I think that strong-willed part is a bad thing, but it actually is a beautiful thing if you continue to let us mold you into the young girl and then woman that God wants you to be.   You teach me so many new things each and every day.
All my love,
Mommy
